help: convert git_cmd to page in one place

Depending on the chosen format of help pages, git-help uses function show_man_page, show_info_page, or show_html_page. The first thing all three functions do is to convert given `git_cmd` to a `page` using function cmd_to_page. Move the common part of these three functions to function cmd_help to avoid code duplication. help: drop usage of 'common' and 'useful' for guides

Since 1b81d8cb19 (help: use command-list.txt for the source of guides, 2018-05-20), all man5/man7 guides listed in command-list.txt appear in the output of 'git help -g'. However, 'git help -g' still prefixes this list with "The common Git guides are:", which makes one wonder if there are others! In the same spirit, the man page for 'git help' describes the '--guides' option as listing 'useful' guides, which is not false per se but can also be taken to mean that there are other guides that exist but are not useful. Instead of 'common' and 'useful', use 'Git concept guides' in both places. To keep the code in line with this change, rename help.c::list_common_guides_help to list_guides_help. Starting in 3ac68a93fd2, help.o began to depend on builtin/branch.o, builtin/clean.o, and builtin/config.o. This meant that help.o was unusable outside of the context of the main Git executable. To make help.o usable by other commands again, move list_config_help() into builtin/help.c (where it makes sense to assume other builtin libraries are present). When command-list.h is included but a member is not used, we start to hear a compiler warning. Since the config list is generated in a fairly different way than the command list, and since commands and config options are semantically different, move the config list into its own header and move the generator into its own script and build rule. For reasons explained in 976aaedc (msvc: add a Makefile target to pre-generate the Visual Studio solution, 2019-07-29), some build artifacts we consider non-source files cannot be generated in the Visual Studio environment, and we already have some Makefile tweaks to help Visual Studio to use generated command-list.h header file. parse_config_key(): return subsection len as size_t

We return the length to a subset of a string using an "int *" out-parameter. This is fine most of the time, as we'd expect config keys to be relatively short, but it could behave oddly if we had a gigantic config key. A more appropriate type is size_t. Let's switch over, which lets our callers use size_t as appropriate (they are bound by our type because they must pass the out-parameter as a pointer). This is mostly just a cleanup to make it clear this code handles long strings correctly. In practice, our config parser already chokes on long key names (because of a similar int/size_t mixup!). When doing an int/size_t conversion, we have to be careful that nobody was trying to assign a negative value to the variable. I manually confirmed that for each case here. They tend to just feed the result to xmemdupz() or similar; in a few cases I adjusted the parameter types for helper functions to make sure the size_t is preserved. "git cmd --help" when "cmd" is aliased used to only say "cmd is aliased to ...". Now it shows that to the standard error stream and runs "git $cmd --help" where $cmd is the first word of the alias expansion. This could be misleading for those who alias a command with options (e.g. with "[alias] cpn = cherry-pick -n", "git cpn --help" would show the manual of "cherry-pick", and the reader would not be told to pay close attention to the part that describes the "--no-commit" option until closing the pager that showed the contents of the manual, if the pager is configured to restore the original screen, or would not be told at all, if the pager simply makes the message on the standard error scroll away. * rv/alias-help: git-help.txt: document "git help cmd" vs "git cmd --help" for aliases git.c: handle_alias: prepend alias info when first argument is -h help: redirect to aliased commands for "git cmd --help"

As discussed in the thread for v1 of this patch [1] [2], this changes the rules for "git foo --help" when foo is an alias. (1) When invoked as "git help foo", we continue to print the "foo is aliased to bar" message and nothing else. (2) If foo is an alias for a shell command, print "foo is aliased to !bar" as usual. (3) Otherwise, print "foo is aliased to bar" to the standard error stream, and then break the alias string into words and pretend as if "git word[0] --help" were called. Getting the man page for git-cherry-pick directly with "git cp --help" is consistent with "--help" generally providing more comprehensive help than "-h". Printing the alias definition to stderr means that in certain cases (e.g. if help.format=web or if the pager uses an alternate screen and does not clear the terminal), one has 'cp' is aliased to 'cherry-pick -n' above the prompt when one returns to the terminal/quits the pager, which is a useful reminder that using 'cp' has some flag implicitly set. There are cases where this information vanishes or gets scrolled away, but being printed to stderr, it should never hurt. help -a: improve and make --verbose default

When you type "git help" (or just "git") you are greeted with a list with commonly used commands and their short description and are suggested to use "git help -a" or "git help -g" for more details. "git help -av" would be more friendly and inline with what is shown with "git help" since it shows list of commands with description as well, and commands are properly grouped. "help -av" does not show everything "help -a" shows though. Add external command section in "help -av" for this.
