Palm Top PC 110 is a handheld personal computer with 80486SX CPU that was released exclusively in Japan in September 1995. While the kernel still supports 486 CPU it is highly unlikely that anyone is using this device with the latest kernel. Remove the driver. 2026-02-21Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argumentLinus Torvalds-20/+20
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' | xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/' to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL argument to just drop that argument. Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered: they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically. 2026-02-21treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar typesKees Cook-20/+20
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union object instances: Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...) Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...) Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...) 2026-02-18Input: bcm5974 - recover from failed mode switchLiam Mitchell-1/+41
Mode switches sent before control response are ignored. This results in an unresponsive trackpad and "bcm5974: bad trackpad package, length: 8" repeated in logs. On receiving unknown 8-byte packets, assume that mode switch was ignored and schedule an asynchronous mode reset. The reset will switch the device to normal mode, wait, then switch back to wellspring mode. 2025-12-18Input: psmouse-smbus - add WQ_UNBOUND to alloc_workqueue userMarco Crivellari-1/+1
Currently if a user enqueue a work item using schedule_delayed_work() the used wq is "system_wq" (per-cpu wq) while queue_delayed_work() use WORK_CPU_UNBOUND (used when a cpu is not specified). The same applies to schedule_work() that is using system_wq and queue_work(), that makes use again of WORK_CPU_UNBOUND. This lack of consistentcy cannot be addressed without refactoring the API. alloc_workqueue() treats all queues as per-CPU by default, while unbound workqueues must opt-in via WQ_UNBOUND. This default is suboptimal: most workloads benefit from unbound queues, allowing the scheduler to place worker threads where they’re needed and reducing noise when CPUs are isolated. This patch continues the effort to refactor worqueue APIs, which has begun with the change introducing new workqueues and a new alloc_workqueue flag: commit 128ea9f6ccfb ("workqueue: Add system_percpu_wq and system_dfl_wq") commit 930c2ea566af ("workqueue: Add new WQ_PERCPU flag") This specific workload do not benefit from a per-cpu workqueue, so use WQ_UNBOUND on the custom workqueue instead. With the introduction of the WQ_PERCPU flag (equivalent to !WQ_UNBOUND), any alloc_workqueue() caller that doesn’t explicitly specify WQ_UNBOUND must now use WQ_PERCPU. Once migration is complete, WQ_UNBOUND can be removed and unbound will become the implicit default. 2025-12-17Input: alps - fix use-after-free bugs caused by dev3_register_workDuoming Zhou-0/+1
The dev3_register_work delayed work item is initialized within alps_reconnect() and scheduled upon receipt of the first bare PS/2 packet from an external PS/2 device connected to the ALPS touchpad. During device detachment, the original implementation calls flush_workqueue() in psmouse_disconnect() to ensure completion of dev3_register_work. However, the flush_workqueue() in psmouse_disconnect() only blocks and waits for work items that were already queued to the workqueue prior to its invocation. Any work items submitted after flush_workqueue() is called are not included in the set of tasks that the flush operation awaits. This means that after flush_workqueue() has finished executing, the dev3_register_work could still be scheduled. Although the psmouse state is set to PSMOUSE_CMD_MODE in psmouse_disconnect(), the scheduling of dev3_register_work remains unaffected. The race condition can occur as follows: CPU 0 (cleanup path) | CPU 1 (delayed work) psmouse_disconnect() | psmouse_set_state() | flush_workqueue() | alps_report_bare_ps2_packet() alps_disconnect() | psmouse_queue_work() kfree(priv); // FREE | alps_register_bare_ps2_mouse() | priv = container_of(work...); // USE | priv->dev3 // USE Add disable_delayed_work_sync() in alps_disconnect() to ensure that dev3_register_work is properly canceled and prevented from executing after the alps_data structure has been deallocated. This bug is identified by static analysis. 2025-01-20Input: synaptics - fix crash when enabling pass-through portDmitry Torokhov-14/+43
When enabling a pass-through port an interrupt might come before psmouse driver binds to the pass-through port. However synaptics sub-driver tries to access psmouse instance presumably associated with the pass-through port to figure out if only 1 byte of response or entire protocol packet needs to be forwarded to the pass-through port and may crash if psmouse instance has not been attached to the port yet. Fix the crash by introducing open() and close() methods for the port and check if the port is open before trying to access psmouse instance. Because psmouse calls serio_open() only after attaching psmouse instance to serio port instance this prevents the potential crash.
