2026-02-21Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argumentLinus Torvalds-1/+1
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' | xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/' to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL argument to just drop that argument. Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered: they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically. For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate conversion. Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
2026-02-21treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar typesKees Cook-1/+1
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union object instances: Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...) Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...) Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...) (where TYPE may also be *VAR) The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning "TYPE *". Signed-off-by: Kees Cook <kees@kernel.org>

2024-12-08soc: atmel: fix device_node release in atmel_soc_device_init()Javier Carrasco-1/+1
A device_node acquired via of_find_node_by_path() requires explicit calls to of_node_put() when it is no longer needed to avoid leaking the resource. Instead of adding the missing calls to of_node_put() in all execution paths, use the cleanup attribute for 'np' by means of the __free() macro, which automatically calls of_node_put() when the variable goes out of scope. 2023-07-29soc: microchip: Explicitly include correct DT includesRob Herring-1/+0
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus. As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they "temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to explicitly include the correct includes. 2021-01-26drivers: soc: atmel: add per soc id and version match masksClaudiu Beznea-66/+140
SAMA7G5 has different masks for chip ID and chip version on CIDR register compared to previous AT91 SoCs. For this the commit adapts the code for SAMA7G5 addition by introducing 2 new members in struct at91_soc and fill them properly and also preparing the parsing of proper DT binding. 2021-01-26drivers: soc: atmel: add null entry at the end of at91_soc_allowed_list[]Claudiu Beznea-1/+2
of_match_node() calls __of_match_node() which loops though the entries of matches array. It stops when condition: (matches->name[0] || matches->type[0] || matches->compatible[0]) is false.
