The ir-kbd-i2c driver behaves like the lirc_zilog driver, except it can
send raw IR and receives scancodes rather than lirccodes.
The lirc_zilog driver only polls if the lirc chardev is opened;
similarly the ir-kbd-i2c driver only polls if the corresponding input
device is opened, or the lirc device.
Polling is disabled during IR transmission through the mutex.
The polling period is 402ms in the ir-kdb-i2c driver, and 260ms in the
lirc_zilog driver.

The use of two separate structs (lirc_dev aka lirc_driver and irctl) makes
it much harder to follow the proper lifetime of the various structs and
necessitates hacks such as keeping a copy of struct lirc_dev inside
struct irctl.
Merging the two structs means that lirc_dev can properly manage the
lifetime of the resulting struct and simplifies the code at the same time.

lirc_zilog currently embeds a struct lirc_dev in its own struct IR,
but subsequent patches will make the lifetime of struct lirc_dev
dynamic (i.e. it will be free():d once lirc_dev is sure there are
no users of the struct).
Therefore, change lirc_zilog to use a pointer to a dynamically
allocated struct lirc_dev.

lirc_zilog stashes a pointer to the parent device in struct lirc_dev
and uses it for logging. It makes more sense to let lirc_zilog keep
track of that pointer in its own struct (this is in preparation for
subsequent patches which will remodel struct lirc_dev).

Make setting chunk_size and buffer_size mandatory for drivers which
expect lirc_dev to allocate the lirc_buffer (i.e. ir-lirc-codec) and
don't set them in lirc-zilog (which creates its own buffer).
Also remove an unnecessary copy of chunk_size in struct irctl (the
same information is already available from struct lirc_buffer).

By making better use of file->private_data in lirc_dev we can avoid
digging around in the irctls[] array, thereby simplifying the code.
External drivers need to use lirc_get_pdata() instead of mucking around
in file->private_data.
The newly introduced lirc_init_pdata() function isn't very elegant, but
it's a stopgap measure which can be removed once lirc_zilog is converted
to rc-core.

All users of lirc_register_driver() uses dynamic minor allocation,
therefore we can remove the ability to explicitly request a given number.
This changes the function prototype of lirc_unregister_driver() to also
take a struct lirc_driver pointer as the sole argument.

According the coding style guidelines, the ENOSYS error code must be
returned in case of a non existent system call. This code has been
replaced with the ENOTTY error code indicating a missing functionality.

Fix all checkpatch reported issues for:
* CHECK: "braces {} should be used on all arms of this statement".
* CHECK: "Unbalanced braces around else statement".
Make sure all if/else statements are balanced in terms of braces. Most
cases in code are, but a few were left unbalanced, so put them all
consistent with the recommended style.

Fix style issues reported by checkpatch, affecting whitespace only:
* CHECK: "Please don't use multiple blank lines".
Two of these still triggering and left untouched because used for
separating logical blocks (vars from functions, etc.).
* CHECK: "spaces preferred around that '<operator>'".
All fixed.
* CHECK: "Alignment should match open parenthesis".
All fixed except one on line 1161, left untouched for readability.
Move towards recommended coding style without compromising readability.

Some functions like kmalloc/kzalloc return NULL on failure.
When NULL represents failure, !x is commonly used.
This was done using Coccinelle:

There is an exit path where rx is kfree'd on put_ir_rx and then
a jump to label out_put_xx will again kfree it with another
call to put_ir_rx. Fix this by adding a new label that avoids
this 2nd call to put_ir_rx for this specific case.

This driver was merged in 2010 and never had the necessary work done
to promote it out of staging (port to rc-core), so remove it.
I have not managed to track down the hardware. If anyone has the
hardware and would like a driver for it, please contact me and
hopefully we can work together to write a new driver.

Support for these sir ports is not compiled in by default, it has to
be enabled by manually defining LIRC_TEKRAM, LIRC_SIR_ACTISYS_ACT200L
or LIRC_SIR_ACTISYS_ACT220L somewhere. This cannot be done from Kconfig
at all so remove them from the driver.

The staging lirc_imon driver contains 4 usb ids. Two of those have a VFD
and two don't. The VFD code is exactly the same in the mainline imon
driver, so that part is easily ported.
The staging driver produces raw IR rather than scancodes for the four
devices, so I've ported the raw IR code from staging to mainline imon.
Now that mainline imon can handle these four devices, lirc_imon is no
longer needed.
Compile tested only.

This driver is for an old mach64 VT board, which also has a framebuffer
driver (atyfb) and userspace mach64 X driver.
It was merged in 2010 and noone has attempted to port it to rc-core,
which would be necessary to get it out of staging.
I have not been able to track down the hardware either.

The lirc_parallel driver was merged in 2010 and noone has attempted
to do the work necessary to get it out of staging (i.e. port it to
rc-core). I have not been able to find one of these devices, and
a machine with a parallel port is pretty rare too.

There is no need to call kfree() if memdup_user() fails, as no memory
was allocated and the error in the error-valued pointer should be returned.

There is only one waiter for the completion, therefore there
is no need to use complete_all(). Let's make that clear by
using complete() instead of complete_all().
While we are at it, we do a small optimization with the
reinitialization of the completion before we use it.
The usage pattern of the completion is:
waiter context waker context
send_packet()
reinit_completion()
usb_sumbit_urb()
wait_for_completion_interruptible()
usb_tx_callback()
complete()
imon_disconnect()
complete()
